Q & a
Membership FAQs
We've had membership for years — what's changing?
Membership itself isn't new — but we've given it a full refresh. The revamped program comes with real benefits and it also puts the community's finances on a steadier footing, so we can plan ahead and be sustainable for the future!
Can my family still participate if we're not members?
Absolutely. Our doors are open to every Jew, always — all services, programs, and events remain open to non-members. That said, membership is the best way to give your family the fullest experience of our community, and it's how we keep those doors open for everyone.
What if membership isn't within our budget right now?
No one is ever turned away for lack of funds. If the membership amount is a hardship, please speak with us confidentially — we will find an arrangement that works for your family. Every Jewish family belongs here, period.
Where does my membership money actually go?
Every dollar stays right here in our home — the upkeep and daily running of the shul: cleaning, gardening, maintenance and repairs, utilities, the safety and security of the building, and everything in between.
I recently made a generous donation. Does that count toward membership?
We're so grateful for your generosity. Donations and membership serve different purposes — membership is your family's steady, ongoing commitment to sustaining the community. Reach out to us and we'll be glad to discuss your situation personally.
When does the membership year run?
The membership year runs from September through August, aligned with the High Holidays. Join any time — we'll prorate accordingly.
How does the automatic Aliyah benefit work?
When you join, we ask for your family's birthdays, anniversaries, and Yahrzeit dates. The Gabbai keeps track, and on the Shabbat before each occasion, you'll be called up for an Aliyah — automatically, without needing to ask.
When does the Shmurah Matzah arrive?
Every member household receives a package of handmade Shmurah Matzah for Pesach, delivered before Pesach — so your Seder table is set well before the holiday rush.
